Thanks AEB for hiring us back!
Sincerely -
The Mag
The National Championships are complete, and wow did those results ever change things up!
Legion BC - A 3rd Nattie added to the resume delivers the coveted year end #1 to the team from Everywhere USA.
A very vocal, and Wisconsin beer fortified Matthew informed The Mag that the former Horders have appeared in 7 of the last 10 National Championship games.
Met X - MN State, International, and North American Champions were denied a chance for the sweep of the Majors by Legion late in the 2nd half of the Nat semi. A great season none the less, and a fond farewell to the greatest American goaltender of all time. Best of luck replacing him, yikes! Thee Elite, Thee, Thee Elite!
Tie - Kelly Lake, Blizzard - KL could only muster a Twin City Open title for the 24/25 season, after dominating the sport for the previous five years. While still possessing the best player in the USA, something has clearly been off with the Lakers all year. Their end game magic, while still entertaining as hell, could not bail them out as it had in years gone by.
The Bliz had an amazing 3 game run over Kelly Lake late in the year. A competing author in the ranking game felt that wasn't enough to give them such a lofty position, GRANT(ed) they skipped Nats, and Coach Tebow never knows until the last second if they are getting into ANY tourney, Mag research has indicated however that they compiled the 3rd best winning pct in the land vs other Class A teams.
5. MN Chiefs - In what was Tribe founder DC's last tourney appearance with his band of Braves, the Chiefs pulled off an amazing rally from 3-0 down to C&L in the Nat QF for a 4-3 victory. A wraparound from Gilly, a snipe from DC and a bomb from EST. 1991 did the trick.
Great career David Carroll! You have much to be proud of.
6. C&L Excavating - Definitely were not at their best in Wisconsin playing without some major talent. The rumor mill was buzzing upstairs at Thell Jr's Bday party (sorry for refusing the hat kid, your cake was delicious!) There were merger talks, free agent talks, contract buyouts, you name it, The Mag heard it! Can't wait to see who is wearing those sweaters next year.
Flames - Things got tricky here. B State Champion Wolves or B Nat Champion Flames? Either way, the Class A team pool for next year just increased by two! The Mag gives the six spot to the Firebugs, as Nats weighs more than State. Hats off to an unfazed Shrugs, who pays his debt like a gentlemen and then fires the lazer for the lone goal in the B Title game. Good job Hayes, you restored the historic franchise. Well done!
Wolves - Got tripped up at Nats in the SF, but still had a very good season, capturing the MN State B Championship among other assorted hardware.
Ice Mafia - A wild march in Middleton to the Class B Nat Title Game. Two more goals, and we are watching Ice Mafia compete in Class A next year! Great tournament Mafioso's, The Mag has always had a soft spot for organized crime. Also, a special shout out to Sir Lawrence and his lovely companion Sarah for supplying the tourney with every imaginable treat from their well-stocked snack cart. The $100 Grand bars were an unexpected delicacy.
Tie - Pete North Stars, Ohio Bombers - We want to see this match up next season. Bombers v Pete North & Co
Will it happen?
